The music in this album is from a live recording of a concert of Handel抯 Messiah in Adolf Fredrik Church in Stockholm, Sweden on February 13 and 14, 1982 ?almost exactly 240 years after the first performance in Dublin, Ireland in 1742.

For technical reasons, the soloists could only take their places on a platform to the left in front of the violinists. Therefore, in your stereo system, you will hear them primarily from the left.

Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God.
Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem,
and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished,
that her iniquity is pardoned.

prepare ye the way of the Lord;
make straight in the desert a highway for our God.

even the messenger of the Covenant, whom you delight in;
behold, He shall come, saith the Lord of hosts.
